School History

Initially established as a branch of Yi-Chang Elementary School, the school district covered Dau-Shiang and Yong-Xing villages in Ji-An Township, Hualien County. Due to the long and arduous journey students had to make to school, local residents strongly advocated for establishing a school in the area. In September 1954, the Yi-Chang Elementary School Dau-Shiang Branch was officially approved to begin operations. At its inception, there were two classes of students, with Mr. Tang Bing-Xian appointed by the county government to manage school affairs.

As enrollment numbers increased year by year and various facilities were gradually developed, the school began to take shape. On April 1, 1956, it was officially approved to become an independent institution - "Dau-Shiang Elementary School." After its establishment, when Guang-Hua Branch became independent as Guang-Hua Elementary School in 1975, the school district remained largely unchanged except for the transfer of the Guang-Hua village campus to Guang-Hua Elementary School's management. The school continued to serve students from Dau-Shiang and Yong-Xing villages, as well as parts of Ji-An and Fu-Xing villages.

The school operates on land allocated by the government that was previously used as an experimental field for Yoshino No. 1 rice cultivation during the Japanese colonial period, with an area of 14,229 square meters. The land was officially converted for school use in 1956.

Since 1956, the school has been led by successive principals: Tang Bing-Xian, Chen Qing-Jia, Huang Rong-Qin, Lu Jing-Quan, Huang Yu-Qian, Qiu Jia-Ren, Zhang Yu-Ming, Mei Yuan-Yuan, Sun Dong-Zhi, and Chen Ci-Fang. Each principal has made profound contributions during their tenure, leaving behind outstanding educational legacies.

Under their leadership, our campus, surrounded by green rice fields and fragrant flowers, has blossomed with extraordinary achievements. The school focuses on environmental education, multiple intelligence development, character education, and innovative technology-based teaching, preparing students with modern competitive capabilities while establishing a solid academic foundation for their future.
